Maryland Heights is at the convergence of Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia, as well as the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. The Appalachian Trail and C&O Canal Towpath are also easily accessible from the trailhead parking lot. The parking lot holds about 16 cars and is between Locks 33 and 34, or approximately mile 61 of the C & O Canal Towpath. This was my first time hiking the Maryland Heights Trail, with killer views of Harpers Ferry in West Virginia, and it did not disappoint. The drive to the trail head was a little over an hour, but well worth it.
