My doctor took me off metoprolol

I read that it can be very dangerous to stop taking it. I take 25 mg metoprolol succinate, split in half. Once in the morning with my flecainide, and then again in the evening for a second dose. He wants me to take half in the morning and skip the evening dose for two days, then stop entirely.

My doctor took me off metoprolol. Then After 11 years started getting rapid heart beat. Dr switched my Metoprolol and my BP went dangerously high. Put me back on metop with increase to 1&1/2. .25 2x day and BP now very good and rapid heart beat barely noticeable except when nearing time to take 2nd dose. Only problem I have is if I drink any wine or caffeine BP goes up.

I recently came completely off of the drug after weaning slowly down (started at 50mg, 2x per day, then went to 25mg, 2X per day for two weeks, then down to 25mg, 1X per day for a week). I've been off for three full days now, and have had quite a ride.
