With regards to the Asgore fight it's mostly about learning his attacks and making sure to account for the blue and orange attacks. Talking to him three times lowers his attack and defence as long as you haven't killed anyone. If you still have the Butterscotch Pie you can use that as an alternative way to lower his attack and defence.

Also, if you still have the pie Toriel gave you at the beginning of the game, use it as a healing item during the fight. This will heal you, and further reduce Asgore's attack and defense in the battle. Nope, I don't have the pie. Any way to get food and supplies before Asgore fight? Question. Basically I'm super low on food and things to help heal after the mettaton fight, and I was planning on running back and stocking up on food after I killed mtt, but the exit was blocked off so I couldn't.
